The West End Elliott Citizens Council (WEECC) organization began as
a group of neighbors in 1966 with the goal to “improve the overall quality
of life in West End and Elliott”. The original group were known as
the “West End Civic Committee”. The name was changed in 1967 to “West
End Citizens Committee", and in 1968 this group became officially the
“West End /Elliott Citizens Council”. The organization was formally incorporated
in 1979 and after a long hard fought battle achieved non-profit status
in December of 1981.
The by-laws state that membership be open to ANY person who is interested
in furthering the work of the council. No member shall be discriminated
